Age Difference in Relationship - Is That Wrong?

My boyfriend and I are getting trouble from my parents because of the age difference in our relationship. I'm 22 and he is 29.

We grew up together and mom used to joke about how cute we would be together. I want to be with him, but I don't want to cut off my family either.

I love him and we have been discussing marriage, but before we take the next step, I have to choose a side. I don't want to do that. What should I do?
