Age Difference

Parents Don't Like the Age Difference

I am almost 16 years old and have fallen in love with a 20 year old (age difference of 4 years) during the past 2 years. I've never been so sure of him before. We stopped talking for a year and a half and I thought of him every day.

In my state, Vermont, the age of consent is 16. He likes me too, and I don't think it's for the wrong reasons.

He told me the other day that he loves me in a strong way because I'm the only person who has loved him for so long and actually showed it. He's never forced anything upon me or made me feel uncomfortable, but my parents don't like the age difference, which is understandable, but I can't just stop loving him.

I have to sneak around to spend time with him. When I turn 16, should I just be with him? I will when I'm 18 anyway. Just don't want to wait :(

i am in the same sitition and i know exactly how it feels. it sucks really bad and it hurts, you know he loves you and you know you wont ever feel the same way with anyone else but him. I though am younger than you and he is 17 and its a 3 years diffrence, he has a twin and my sister is dateing him after she heard about my break up. so that adds more tension my parents dont take the time to get to know him or even care about my feelings for him. right know i have a punishment because i waas flirting with him, so my punishment is im have to come home right after school no phone no sports no friends no anything and i feel alone, so i know how it goes. but they are all right you have to wait. even though he would never do anything to hurt you. you have to wait be very good friends with him, because thats what i am with my guy we hang out every morning in the art room and he still has feelings for me and i have feelings for him we just have made this promise to wait. we have a saying and you can have this its "im yours and your mine, no matter what" i hope this helps to know your not alone.

You have said how much you loved him and he has told you he loves you to if it is real love he well wait for you , only one thing you have not said , Has he been in trouble with the law dose he do drugs , drink , have a steady job finish school,

You both need to be adults on this sweetie
with out a good job from finishing school
if he has been arrested and a record it well make both your lifes very hard. so think on all this befor you decide to go with him

your parents love you and are doing what parents do protect there kids they only want what is best for you ,

itll be okay just wait a bit

well I understand where your coming from for the most part... Im 16 to and I have a problem similar to this. My best advice is to wait a little bit.Maybe another year if that. if you love him and he loves you, it may be hard, itll work out.
