There is no such quote in the Bible. The joke is when someone says it, you answer Hezikiah5:19 and they normally say, See I knew it was in there.
What they are thinking of is in James 2:17: faith without works is dead! God helps whomsoever asks Him for help. Knowing the Lord Jesus Christ personally makes it a two-way conversation and relationship.
God loves us and longs to help us. God also expects us to love and honor Him. God will not bless our ideas. We need to find out where His will is and then do it!
This quote is not in the bible and isn't true it. It is quite the opposite: "God helps those who help themselves" is probably the most often quoted phrase that is not found in the Bible.
This is actually a quote from Ben Franklin and it appeared in Poor Richard's Almanac in 1757. In fact, the Bible teaches the opposite.
God helps the helpless! Isaiah 25:4 declares, "For you have been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat..."
Romans 5:6 tells us, "For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly."

This isn't actually a quote from the Bible - doesn't appear there at all!
