Boyfriend Ignores Calls and Emails

I've been with this guy for about 3 years. I am 20 and he is 19. We're in a long distance relationship.
I keep on asking if he really loves me.
His answer: "Yeah, I love you." But there are times when he ignores my calls and emails.
Whenever i asked him why he does this, I always get the answer: I DONT KNOW.
He's never had a girlfriend before ... I'm his first one.
I'm a filipina and he's peruvian.
