Commitment Issues

I have been talking to this guy who has commitment issues for 6 months. In December, he had just gotten out of a relationship of 6 years and the girl cheated on him.

We started out just friends and now things are a little more complicated. He acts as if we are dating, but he has not asked me out yet and says that he is not 100% ready for a relationship yet.

I have two babies ages 3 and 2. He's really good with the kids and they seem to enjoy each other. I'm ready for him to ask me out.

I know he cares about me and the kids but I don't know what to do about his commitment issues which he openly admits he has. What should I do?
