How to Breakup in a Subtle Way

I am in a relationship with a guy, and I feel its not working because the only thing I really enjoy when being with him is partying, movies, etc (basically when entertaining ourselves) and the sex. Other than that, we hardly have anything to talk about or say to each other. Basically, we are not open with each other, and there are a lot of things I don't feel comfortable sharing with him. In addition to that, I don't trust him, in terms of seeing other women.

So that is not the type of relationship I want to have. I need to get out of it, and I don't know how to tell him. I don't want to hurt him, because I know he does love me. We have been seeing each other for just over a year now, nothing has changed.
