I Wish I Had Never Loved

They say, "Tis better to have loved and lost, than never loved at all."
I ponder these eternal words
As I watch tears fall
How can time heal these wounds
When they are cut into my heart so deep
I am trapped inside my own dark little world
As the light inside me sleeps
My body wants to let this go
But my heart screams, "Just hold on!"
I am standing at the forked road
Wondering which way to go.
