I just thought this was weird when I pulled it up because my name is also Chris, and I'm a football player, and I play quarterback. I never started in a varsity game my whole life, and when it came to be my two years to start for this team, the coach didn't even give me an equal shot against this other guy, and I was back up my junior year.
Then my summer going into my senior year, my coach told me I had a really good chance of starting because that last season we went 1-9, and change was needed, and the coach told me that the job was up for grabs, and clearly that was bullshit because the coach didn't even give me nearly an equal shot against the other guy, and that was the 3rd year that, that coach has shafted me in my career.
Then I moved to Ohio because there was a better opportunity there for me, and I got all these good letters for recruiting me from all these MAC and ACC schools. But I made it clear that I'd like to take the juco route to see if I could get anything better, and I am also in the process of proving my old high school coach wrong by going somewhere good in football, to make him look like a jackass, and have him hate himself for what he missed out on, not trying to be cocky, but he will have to live with himself knowing "what could have happened." But your quote just broke everything down into a few sentences for me. Good luck in whatever your trying to accomplish, you're not alone.

Great sports quote!
But I'm a little confused...your description said your coach said you were a "good for nothing FOOTBALL player," and you only played BASKETBALL to keep in shape... which sport did the Coach coach?
And if you're still playing for the coach, tell him he's a sour old git for depriving you of playing foot/basketball, whichever one it was.
