It has to be yours." ~ Peggy Fleming This is the truest sports quote ever because when you step on the ice, you can see the ones who aren't there for themselves, they're the ones who don't get disapointed when they don't start, they're the ones who lose faith the fastest, why? Because they think they have to win to please people...but that's not true. When you play for yourself, it doesn't matter how many goals you score, just that you're playing. The other day my partner and I got to start the game, we went crazy, jumped up and down, roughed each other up. Maybe we looked like idiots, but we didn't care...we got to play. My coach told me that I wasn't the player he would put out in the last minute of a tied game to win it. That might have discouraged another player, but not me because I understood why, and I knew how to improve. I'm the player who after an easy practice of maybe just small area games goes into the locker room last and dripping with sweat, why? Because I love the taste of sweat, the deadness in your legs after you give everything. My nickname is Bison because I tackle everything head on and with as much intensity as I can because I don't know anything else. I'm the one who works hard no matter what, just because I don't know what else to do. My advice? Find what it is in life that makes your heart beat even when everything else is wrong. It will pull you through the hardest times of your life...I've found mine, it's hockey. |
