If I understand you correctly you said, "I just broke up with my boyfriend", meaning... YOU called it OFF.
Am I right? Well, He only asked that you be friends to get back at you for breaking it off with him by avoiding you.
Now what you need to do is STOP trying to talk to him or be his friend and act like you don't care one bit.
Hold your head up, keep your eyes forward, dress your best, smile and march on, that will do it.
