Lies and a Broken Heart

He tells me that I'm the only one who holds his heart. Then he comes over late, smelling like her and I can't help but feel abandoned. He assures me he would never do me wrong. And all the while, I can't stop thinking about the fact that he's just been with her. It makes me angry, yet when I find them together, my heart still breaks. I feel the pain of my throat tightening up, the knots in my stomach and the hot tears rolling down my cheeks. How could he? I loved him unconditionally and gave him all I had. I only wanted him. I was truthful and in the end, all he could give me in return were lies and a broken heart. |
