Life Long Love Unrecognized

There is this boy that I have known since practically the day I was born. We have always been friends. But now since I've grown up I am starting to realize why I get butterflies and become nervous when he comes around.

I finally told him how I felt and how I always felt this way I just didn't understand why, and he said that when he was younger he would get the same feeling and that he always thought I was his true love. Then he said that after a while, he got the feeling that I did not feel the same, so he moved on and now he has a woman who loves him as much as I do and they have a family.

Although I knew that, I wanted to tell him how I felt, but now I'm stuck wondering why didn't he tell me when we were younger. Maybe he didn't understand either. I am just upset that it took me 19 years to recognize that I was in love.
