Long Distance Relationships - Advice for those Whose Lover is Miles Away
Long distance relationships
... require a deep level of commitment, highly developed communication skills, trust and shared goals. Do you have what it takes to go the distance in such a relationship? Some couples do and some don't.
As someone who has had a number of long distance relationships (one that lead to a marriage going on 19 years), I know what it takes to go the distance and make your relationship work. In fact, I'm currently writing an ebook about it. Here's a question from Alex, who is confused about whether to continue a long distance relationship or get back together with a woman who lives close to home.
Dear Laura Love,
Oh, God, Laura, I'm a wreck. I'm in a long distance relationship with a girl called Danielle. We've known each other about a year and have been going out for almost five months now and we love each other, but I have trust issues.
I keep having these thoughts that she might be cheating because she is way too good for me: she's prettier, smarter, kinder, nicer, and better in every way. Even though she says she loves me and would never ever cheat, there is still that stupid voice in my head.
And what's worse is, I love my best friend, Vicky. We've known each other almost four years and I used to date her. It wasn't until after we broke up that we became unbelievably closer and friendlier, but now these old feelings are re-emerging for her.
So basically I love and have trust issues with Danielle and I love Vicky and could really see myself being with her.
My mind is total mess. I can't think straight and I can't even function. What should I do?
Please, please help.
Signed Alex
