Love & Demise

Cold fingers of the night lightly sweep my cheek.
Without you by my side, what keeps the monsters away?
The monster of myself?
My lips are chapped and dry.
Salty tears are dried on my face.
The first ruby gems form on my wrists.
Lines crisscross and delicately curve.
Such precision.
Beautiful maroon red spilling on the perfect white sheet.
I fear of being discovered.
I in my weak state.
The space beside me is cold and empty,
Where your form lay only moments before.
I wait,
Staring at that space for what seems so long.
I awaken to arms around me and breath on my lips.
But this time it isn't the cold emptiness enveloping me.
It is you.
You who saves me from the dark.
The cold, the hunger, the hate.
The pain and the fear.
It is you who saves me from myself.
