Love Has Four Levels of Development

In an article on the optednews website, author Allen L. Rolland, says that there are four levels of love. The first he characterizes as a level in which both partners are just going through the motions because they're still plagued by childhood fears.
He calls second level relationships "safe love" because each partner tries to fill the other's emotional emptiness. Eventually, this type of love devolves into resentment.
The third level of a love relationship is that of soulmates. The goal of such a relationship is to encourage the other to realize their true nature.
Rolland refers to the fourth and final level of relationship as "cosmic." This type of love demands a total surrender to love but the couple is rewarded with a sense of peace and bliss. Obviously, this fourth stage is rare.
