Love in Different Countries

by Billy
(Ireland)

Hi there,

I am 30 and my girlfriend is 32. I met her in Ireland over 2 years ago. She is from Australia, but her parents are Irish. We have been living together for over a year.

We recently went to Oz to see her family as she hasn't been back in over 2 years. Since our return, she has said she wants to live in Oz for good and have a family there. I am hesitant to go as I might want to come back home too, as one of my parents was recently not well.

My girlfriend said she loves me, and I love her. How can we solve this issue of coming from different countries and staying together? We always said prior to our recent trip to Oz, that maybe we could do a couple of years in each place and rotate it, but now my girlfriend wants something more stable like living in Oz forever, which she hinted at too before our Oz trip.

The weather is far better in Oz than Ireland too.
Is there any real solution to this? Has anyone overcome this predicament successfully apart from one party giving in or the obvious solution of one party happy to live wherever.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you

Billy
