Promise Never Kept

If I see you now
what would I say?
what can I say?

You left me long ago
how long has it been?
Two years? Three? Four?

Yet every time I think of you
and every time I hear of you
I cant help myself

I cry until me eyes can't see
so I don't have to look
at what I've become

How could you do this?
Barley a good bye
a soft whisper I can still hear today

"Catch ya later, 'k?"

So here I sit
behind my couch
and scribble these words

my heart is aching
for that promise never kept
and for that face I'll never see

so I think

if I did see you again
would I still be able to tell you
and would you still remember

that I loved you?
