When you lose touch with your inner stillness, you lose touch with yourself. This is so true. I make a point to sense my inner stillness at least five or six times per day. This practice has expanded my inner sense of peace. The ego lives through comparison. How you are seen by others turns into how you see yourself. I use this quote by Eckhart Tolle to remind myself that who I am has no definition, but can only be experienced firsthand. If I'm in a social situation where I'm picking up on the judgments of others (usually through facial expressions, intonation or body language), I excuse myself, so I can center myself back in my being. |
