Rebound Relationship

Me and my boyfriend have been together for about 3 years and now I'm wondering if we have a rebound relationship. When we first got together, the love of his life had just broken it off with him and moved out of state. He was upset, hurt and everything else because it didn't go how he wanted it to.

We ended up having a kid together. Not once has he taken me out on my birthday, our anniversary or holidays. Please help me!
