Should a Girl Ask Out a Guy

I really like this guy at my school. He is cute and such a sweetheart. He stares at me sometimes, with a smile on his face. Both his friends and mine tell me to ask him out, but I honestly think that he doesn't have feelings for me at all.
And I always thought that the guy should ask out the girl.

If I did ask him out, and he rejected me, I would
feel like such a moron!

I don't know what to do about this situation. My friends are telling me to go for it and so is my heart, but it's just that my mind is all cluttered with tons of thoughts and worries.

What should I do? I need help, please!
