Should I Give This Guy a Second Chance

I went out with guy for about 2 and a half months, almost 3. He was losing everything and things kept going wrong. He broke up with me because he didnt want me to go through that while he was trying to figure out stuff and fix things. He told me that he was afraid he was going to lose me too, so he broke up with me.

About a month later, he was being a jerk and messaged me on Facebook and told me that he just had sex with some girl...and I'm like ok?

About 2 weeks ago, he texted me, apologizing and saying how sorry he is and so much stuff like that. I mean I understand what he was going through and why he did what he did (besides the sex part and stuff). I forgive him because I dont like holding grudges whatsoever. We've been talking for awhile and we're going to hang out Saturday and see how things go and talk things out.

I don't know what to do. My friend told me that she won't talk to me for awhile if I do go back out with him, but it's none of her business, especially since she doesn't know him.

What should I do?
He never cheated on me first of all and he never did anything bad to me while we were going out.
