Should I just give up ?

Okay, there is this boy, Hakim, that I love so much. We were very good friends for a few months before we actually began going out. Then when we started dating, everything went well for three, almost four months. We then broke up because he said he couldn't be faithful anymore. But after about three weeks of not talking to each other, we began talking again and got back together. Then after two weeks we broke up again, and now I don't even talk to him any more. I love this boy to death and I would do anything to be with him. In my mind I feel that I need to just move on, but my heart is telling me that I need to keep trying because I love him too much to let him go. So now I'm confused. I know I always hear people say "follow your heart" but would it be in both of our best interests for me to still try to work things out between us? Or should I just move on with my life and forget about ever making up with him? I just don't know. I really love him, and he loves me, but I just need some advice on what to do. Could somebody please help me? Thank you.
