Spiritual Compass

In April 2008, I was in Glorieta, New Mexico helping out in packing things for the long journey with the U-Haul truck of our things to Mt. Shasta, California. I was packing stuff like kitchen glasses and plates, which were fragile and needed more extra love and care in packing.

I did a good job and I was asked by one of our companions how did I do it. I responded very spontaneously saying, "When there is love in your heart you can always do anything in the best way."

I have learned that from the quotation above from Chiara Lubich. I have studied and made a life experience on the art of Christian love with the focolare movement in Loppiano, Italy, a city near Florence.

In my daily life today, I use the words above as my spiritual compass, i.e., each small thing that I do like cleaning, washing dishes, gathering dried leaves or having an internet chat with my wife, Marl, I always do out of love. At the end of the day I arrive back home with great feelings of joy and peace.
