The Emo's Lullaby
by Michael Christopher Rodreigez Juan Estabon Shanequa Peden
(Hernando, MS)
*to the tune of 'Hush Little Baby'*
Cry little Emo, cry yourself to sleep
Crying'll only let you slumber skin-deep
When your body wakes from its nap
Perhaps you'll ask yourself why you feel so trapped
If you have no answer to show
You may turn to the only thing you know
Cut little Emo, cut until you bleed
Cutting'll never bring the things you need
When your razor's dull from use
Maybe you'll see fit to end the abuse
If you still feel nothing's left to lose
You may turn to a bottle of booze
Drink little Emo, drink away the pain
Drinking'll offer nothing to gain
When your bottle's been drunk dry
Perhaps you'll have yourself another good cry
If you feel that nothing's been answered
You may turn your gaze inward
Think little Emo, think about why
Thinking'll help those stray tears dry
When your mind is tired and slow
Maybe away to sleep you'll go
If this has done nothing for you
You may start this lullaby anew
