The Monster That I Am
by Chelsey Lynn

The pain is slowly killing me,
I’m afraid of the monster that I am.
This doesn’t have to be,
I can make it alone, I know I can.
Your smile is so fake, so cold.
I’m not okay, I need you here.
I was once lied to, once told;
That you would always be there to wipe my tears.
I once believed your lies, now it’s so painful.
I think about your hurtful words as the tears start to fly.
I realize this was all a bunch of bull!
This doesn’t have to be,
Can you please tame the monster that is me?
