The Moon's Eyes
by Rose Mars

The Moon rises to reclaim his dark destination above,
My eyes watch helplessly as the black of the night takes shape around me.
Bright stars twinkle in harmony to the sound of silence,
And a navy sheet of seclusion clouds all hope of my recovery.
The darkness folds around my body flawlessly,
Against its will my mind is forced to wander through its forgotten thoughts.
The world around dissolves into a white hole of silent victims,
And I listen as my mind begins to replay each fear it has always fought.
Overwhelmed by my fears I wait for the safety of the light,
But the Moon has only just arrived bearing tricks much too clever.
In its descent the Moon smiles upon me with eyes all too decipherable,
And my thoughts are overcome by the image of eyes that will haunt me forever.
