Want to be with this guy

This guy and I have been talking for about two months and I asked him why he hasn't asked me out yet. He told me that he wants to be single but at the same time he wants to be with me. This makes me feel confused. His homies told me that he doesn't want to be in a relationship because of what happened to him and his last girlfriend.

I don't know what to do. I really really like him a lot.
