You Are My Light
by Katie Lesho
(Atlanta, Georgia )
Among the darkness you are my light,
You shield me from pain and ultimately me,
You make my dark life bright,
When I feel blind, you help me see.
I feel cloaked in darkness from head to feet,
You are the brightest part of me,
I want to touch your perfect face, the ultimate high,
How my heart would race.
They say love sucks, they've never felt this way,
When you leave me, all I feel is distress, why would you walk away?,
I feel so betrayed. I've told you my secrets I've nothing to confess,
If you leave me to die, let me die in peace, lay me down to rest.
But still I'll be disturbed even after I'm dead,
My heart stands still, my lips blood red,
I'll come back to haunt you, you'll fear going to bed.
You should have stayed with me, for now my spirit haunts forever my tortured face tattooed in the back of your head
I will never be perfect, dead or alive, but you were my light.
The reason I for so long before survived.
